Foundation for Family Life

Mentors / Volunteers

The purpose of The Foundation For Family Life has been stated as follows:

Father"to provide the essential life skills that will allow families to build better and more lasting relationships and foster a loving family environment; where communication is honest and open, trust is nurtured, where family members are encouraged to develop individual talents, and a genuine support is felt by all family members"

Our programs are designed intended to identify and better define the availability and access to resources in our community that can help to ease the pain and the burdens of others. Whether it is a family in crisis, someone suffering, yet trying to overcome a sever addiction, an ex-offender trying to rebuild a life, or a father trying to support his family, or any number of other issues that can affect the family environment, we want to provide assistance to build better relationships and help those we serve find success.

A key ingredient in helping others overcome these difficult challenges in life is a demonstration that someone cares, that they are willing to give of themselves to listen, to support, and to help find workable solutions to those problems encountered by another. Each person needs to know that they are valued, that they have worth, and that care and concern that is expressed by a volunteer is "priceless."

Our organization needs volunteer mentors, those who are willing to share of their time and talents to assist those who need help. We need volunteers to help those in need find and then access the resources that are available. We need volunteers who have a desire to reach out to others and provide a compassionate heart, a listening ear, and a helping hand to those who struggle, whether they be a family in crisis, an addict trying to overcome a serious addition, a teen trying to find their way, an ex-offender trying to rebuild a broken life, or a father who needs employment to support heir families. Each of those who struggle is more likely to succeed if they know they are not alone.

Mentoring is a proven technique to increase the chance for success. Our objective is to provide those we serve with the greatest opportunity to be successful. Our organization needs those who want to be part of that success story, to help someone else overcome difficult challenges and are willing to be a part of that miracle.

"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving much advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a gentle and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares."
